Thrombocytopenia
Thrombocytopenia is the condition of too few platelets. It is a common side effect of chemotherapy, which depresses the bone marrow where platelets, also called thrombocytes, are made. They are essential for blood clotting. People with thrombocytopenia are at risk of excessive bleeding and have trouble healing wounds.
