Opioid
Opioids, also called narcotics, are medicines used to treat moderate to severe pain. Opiates are natural pain relievers, including heroin and morphine. Opioids are similar, but synthetic. Many of these medications are the best way to treat severe pain. Addiction is a possibility, as is tolerance to the medication, leading to a need for increased dosages. However, patients with symptomatic mesotheliomas should not worry about addiction. Their doctors should use every type of treatment available to help control their pain.
