What are the types of asbestos?

Six minerals are defined as “asbestos” including: chrysotile, amosite, crocidolite, tremolite, anthophyllite and actinolite. Three kinds of asbestos are most commonly found in the United States: chrysotile, “white asbestos”; amosite, “brown asbestos”; and crocidolite, “blue asbestos”. Brown and blue asbestos are most commonly associated with mesothelioma.
